July - September 2017
The link previously mentioned between Jupiter and Neptune for June continues for most of July. It is quite a subtle link, but nevertheless powerful. The difficult side of this is the tendency to let things slide, to be over-optimistic and to be liable to deception. The positive side is optimism sensibly invested, also sensitivity to what is happening at inner levels. Remaining realistic is important, but provided this can be achieved it can be a useful combination of influences. It is also helpful for artistic and cultural pursuits. Other than this, July is fairly ‘quiet’, though the major influences mentioned in the general remarks continue to affect global life as deeply as always.
With Mars it was a case of actively seeking it; with Saturn it is a matter of maintaining that contact with the light, come what may. The symbolism is very potent, and even more so because Mars, having just finished its retrograde period at the beginning of this quarter, moves forward again and catches up with Saturn in late August, their conjunction being also conjunct the star. Whatever happens, the message is clearly to seek and to hold on to the light, however dark things in the world may seem to be. Saturn too will have finished its retrograde period by then, and things can begin to move forward, testing though that process will probably prove to be.
In August, things become more lively as the month continues. A lunar eclipse early in the month (Sun in Leo with Mars close by, Moon in Aquarius) highlights the importance of balance between mind and heart. This balance will be much needed later in the month and subsequently as the effects of a major solar eclipse at the end of Leo are felt. This eclipse is very likely to trigger at least one globally important event of considerable moment during the weeks immediately following. The eclipse is very closely aspected by Uranus, so we must expect the unexpected and be prepared to be flexible, adaptable and resilient. However, it would be a mistake to take a negative attitude: however unpredictable things may seem to be, good can and will come of it. A harmonious link between Jupiter and Saturn which started to develop during July continues right through August and into September, helping to bring stability where it might seem to be in short supply!
